Behind The Scenes, The Federal Reserve and FDIC Are Busy Doling Out $9 Trillion Taxpayer Dollars More to The Banksters

Obama $750 Billion Stimulus Package Just A Drop in The Bucket

what kind of infrastructure improvements could we make with that kind of money?

via Bloomberg:
The Federal Reserve, Treasury Department and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation have lent or spent almost $3 trillion over the past two years and pledged to provide up to $5.7 trillion more if needed. The total already tapped has decreased about 1 percent since November, mostly because foreign central banks are using fewer dollars in currency-exchange agreements called swaps. The Senate is to vote early this week on a stimulus package totaling at least $780 billion that President Barack Obama says is needed to avert a deeper recession. That measure would need to be reconciled with an $819 billion plan the House approved last month.
Only the stimulus package to be approved this week, the $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program passed four months ago and $168 billion in tax cuts and rebates approved in 2008 have been voted on by lawmakers. The remaining $8 trillion in commitments are lending programs and guarantees, almost all under the authority of the Fed and the FDIC. The recipients names have not been disclosed.

Obama for Change! We all hope so. Time to change ships...they sunk the other one. Only we shouldn't let the saboteurs on board the new one!

Some notable quotes regarding the future and current state of affairs in the United States-

On September 17, 1787, Benjamin Franklin, aged 81 years, addressed the Constitutional Convention for the last time:

"I think a general government necessary for us, and there is no form of government but what may be a blessing to the people if well administered; and I believe, farther, that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other."

Gore Vidal from 2003 LA Weekly interview (like did anybody pay attention to this?-Nah!)

".... we find the sort of corruption Franklin predicted. Ours is a totally corrupt society...No one is punished for squandering the peopleís money and their pension funds and for wrecking the economy.

So the corruption predicted by Franklin bears its terrible fruit. No one wants to do anything about it. Itís not even a campaign issue. Once you have a business community that is so corrupt in a society whose business is business, then what you have is, indeed, despotism. It is the sort of authoritarian rule that the Bush people have given us. The USA PATRIOT Act is as despotic as anything Hitler came up with even using much of the same language. In one of my earlier books, Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace, I show how the language used by the Clinton people to frighten Americans into going after terrorists like Timothy McVeigh, how their rights were going to be suspended only for a brief time, was precisely the language used by Hitler after the Reichstag fire."

Here are a few more...

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervour, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded with patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader, and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar". - Julius Caesar

"I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. ... corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavour to prolong it's reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed." -Abraham Lincoln

"If we find our government in all its branches rushing headlong, like our predecessors, into the arms of monarchy, if we find them violating our dearest rights, the trial by jury, the freedom of the press, the freedom of opinion, civil or religious, or opening on our peace of mind or personal safety the sluices of terrorism, if we see them raising standing armies, when the absence of all other danger points to these as the sole objects on which they are to be employed, then indeed let us withdraw and call the nation to its tents." -Thomas Jefferson

"The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home." -James Madison

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only un-patriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -T. Rosevelt

"The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic State itself. What, in its essence, is Fascism, but ownership of government by an individual, by a group or by any controlling private power." -Franklin D. Rosevelt

"Why, of course the people don't want war...but, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship...voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." - Hermann Goering NAZI commander of the German Air Force

"Never do anything against conscience - even if the state demands it." -A. Einstein

"Just as nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. There is a twilight where seemingly nothing has changed. It is in this period that one must be vigilant to the changes - no matter how small - lest he become the unwitting victim of the darkness." - Justice William O. Douglas

"Ristrictions of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions. It is the one un-American act that could most easily defeat us." -Justice William O. Douglas

"It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance." -Robert Kennedy

"In 1960, when I came out of prison as an ex-convict, I had more freedom under parolee supervision than there's available to an average citizen in America right now... God almighty, what have we done to each other?" -Merle Haggard
